Due to the widening disconnect between children and nature, founders Jeremy Belot and wife, Kelly Aubin Belot, felt compelled to do something for their own children and neighborhood. They wanted to find a way to raise environmentally conscious children in a home-like and healthy envinroment. To do so, they envisioned Tiny Green Trees with the mission of connecting children to their natural environment through creative play and exploratory activities, a healthy and sustainable menu and an overall healthier and greener childcare setting. Together they have opened two eco-friendly, nature based, home-like childcare centers that are centrally located in urban Milwaukee and adjacent to revitalized green space. They are living their vision of growing healthy children into our next generation of environmental stewards.
To instill a love for nature in our children by supporting their natural growth in a home-like, healthy, and sustainable environment.
Tiny Green Trees is a nature-based early childhood education center that puts nature at the heart of the program. We value and teach children to learn about nature, in nature and for nature. Our curriculum emphasizes that understanding, caring for and protecting our environment is as important as healthy child development. We believe that if a child can be exposed to “environmental literacy” early on, then they will be motivated and have the ability to keep our planet healthy for years to come.
We respect the natural urge in children to grow and discover in a mixed-age group setting. Our daily rhythm creates time for children to learn practical life skills throughout each season. We embrace nature as our teacher and practice practical life skills throughout our daily rhythms. Our experienced early educators work to create a safe, nurturing, and natural environment that promotes positive self-image, independence, self-confidence, and healthy living skills.
We hope our tiny green trees childcare center will be your child’s home away from home!
